‘The Dalby Farm Experience’: Exploring Farm Animals is an interactive summer learning program for children entering K-2nd grade. Our farm provides an ideal environment for children to ‘experience’ learning through hands-on farm and animal activities, games and crafts.

Exploring Farm Animals, offers a different theme every day. The presentation, activities, and crafts are designed to reinforce and coincide with the presented subject matter so that the child has fun while learning. Each day of the program covers a different farm animal so that the participant can partake in both sessions without repetition.

Through a curriculum designed for children entering K-2nd grade, ’Exploring Farm Animals’ participants will learn about farm animals and their habitats, via stories, hands-on activities and crafts. Being on a farm, the children are able to explore them through their senses. They will hear the rooster crow, feel the softness of sheep’s wool and see the rich color and beauty of a chicken’s feather.

Each program participant should bring along a trashless boxed lunch and drink. It is also recommended that each child bring a refillable water bottle that can be used throughout the day.

Please note: The majority of The Experience takes place outside and each program participant will partake in outdoor activities, walk on wooded trails and will have contact with farm animals. The Experience will be held rain or shine. In the event of inclement weather, program participants should bring appropriate outerwear.

Covid 19 Procedures at Dalby Farm:As always, the health and safety of anyone visiting the farm is our number one priority. For all activities being held at the farm, we are following the guidelines set by the Scituate Board of Health and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. While at Dalby Farm, we request that everyone 3 years and older wear a mask that fits securely, covering both the nose and mouth. In addition, hand washing throughout the day will be expected and maintaining a 6 foot social distancing practice is requested as well.  As we navigate through this pandemic, the rules and/or practices may change; we will be sure to keep you updated as soon as any additional information becomes available.
Masks are not required to be worn at all times, but we do ask that you pack one to have on-hand each day – just in case!

Spring is here! We are so excited to get ready for all the fun things to come this season on the farm! Will you help us?

Our “Day in the Life, Farm Care” edition of our Toddler Enrichment & Social time series will feature all the usual things you know and love (crafts/activities, free time) but we will put special emphasis on a different basic farm chore each week. Whether we are collecting eggs, washing buckets, “cleaning” stalls, or doing some tidying up around the property- there will be plenty of ways you can help us prepare for the busy months to come on the farm! Did someone say baby chicks? They will arrive during this session! Help us get ready!!! Early exposure to these easy tasks are a great introduction to the responsibility involved in owning animals, and being an advocate for nature.

*Please note, this is not a drop-off program. Babies in carriers/strollers are welcome and free of charge.

Pre-K Story Time – TBA

Take some time to have some old-fashioned summer fun with your child! Join us Thursday mornings at 10:00 a.m., for our Pre-K Story Time. There will be two 4-week sessions that you can choose from. If you choose to attend both sessions, you won’t have to worry about repeated material because there will be eight different stories highlighting eight different rare farm breeds that live at Dalby Farm. Bring a blanket and a peanut-free snack!
