Many say that these fun little strawberry pincushions remind them of the one that grandma used to have! They are not only adorable but very functional too! I keep a couple of them around the house. One is kept near my sewing machine; I keep it filled with common pins and sewing needles that I may need for hems etc. The other one is kept on my bulletin board, in my pantry, so that if someone is looking for a safety pin or any type of needle, they can easily find one.
When my kids were in college, I made up a 'sewing kit' by taking a mason jar and filling it with different colored threads, a pair of embroidery scissors and a 'strawberry pincushion' which had common pins, sewing needles and safety pins. It was compact enough for them to keep in their dorm rooms and came in handy many times! They loved it!

I keep one on tacked up on my bulletin board in the pantry and I cannot tell you how many times one of us has used a pin from it.
I also keep a strawberry pincushion in my sewing room, next to my machine. When I hem a dress, I am able to hold it by running my finger through the loop which makes the job easier because the pins are always within reach.
Another suggested use that I have for this cute little strawberry pincushion, is for kids heading off to college! Create your own sewing kit, I made one for each of my kids by using a quart mason jar. Throw in a few spools of thread, needles, embroidery scissors and of course, a strawberry pincushion adorned with lots of common and safety pins! You never know when they might need to use it and it is compact enough for any dorm.
